So proud of Allison
August 21, 2008
Today was Allison's second day of school. She is loving school!
Today was also Allison's first dental appointment with teeth cleaning. Her doctor was wonderful. She was a trooper. She sat still and followed directions for most of it. Toward the last few teeth she was getting antsy. As the doctor was doing a final check and identifying her teeth (baby teeth are identified with letters), he started naming each tooth by letter and stopped at "H". When he stopped, Allison picked up and said the rest of the alphabet.
After the dentist, we stopped at the music store. When we walked in the door, she started identifying all the instruments she saw. They had saxophones, violins, cello, clarinets, guitars, and drums sitting out or sitting in opened cases. She got them all. She even called the larger instruments "bass". I am so proud of her!!!

First Monday of Allison's school career!!

Believe it or not- due to weather and the sickies- yesterday was the first Monday that Allison went to school!! She has yet to go an entire week (everyday) to school. Maybe, if we're lucky, it could be this week!!

Allison's first day of preschool yesterday
January 16, 2008
Allison's first day of school was yesterday. She did better than her parents!! She seemed to understand what was going on when we told her in the morning and reminded her throughout the morning routine that we had to do all these things to get ready for school. She looked adorable wearing her backpack, though she didn't seem to appreciate the big fuss when mom wanted to take pictures.
At school, she remembered visiting her room from last week and headed right in. Her teacher met her at the door and showed us her locker, which had her name on a duck tag (she liked the duck tag). We hung everything up and she went right into the room and started exploring and playing. She, again, seemed distracted when I wanted to leave and asked her to say good-bye. It was was a quick "bye", no wave, then back to playing.
Matthew and Guy were at home reading when I got back. After Guy left, Matthew seemed about 10 feet tall. He could watch his program on television, play with the toys he wanted to, even rearrange the cupboards without any interference from Allison. He seemed to really enjoy that....

Allison's preschool visit
January 11, 2008
Today Allison had an opportunity to visit her preschool class. She offiically starts next Tuesday. She walked right in the room as if she had been there all year and started playing and exploring. They had a water table in the back of the room with rice in it. She spent most of her time there. Matthew was a little hesitant at first and stayed close to mom. After a bit, he started exploring too. He especially enjoyed visiting with the girls in the class. He's such a charmer!

Starting the birthday festivities!!
January 5, 2008
Today we decided to begin celebrating Allison's birthday...we took her to the Play Station! Guy and Matthew went grocery shopping while Allie and I started at the Play Station. They would join us for about an hour after they finished shopping (assuming that would be about all the excitement Matthew could handle).
Allison loved it!!!! We started off climbing and crawling everywhere together, but soon got to a point where she was moving a whole lot faster than I was and got away from me. The first time it happened I was waiting for the inevitable scream that usually happens when she looses me. But that didn't happen today! She was having so much fun, she wasn't paying any attention to where I was or wasn't. If I happened to run into, she greeted me with an excited smile and kept right on climbing. She loved the ball pit. She kept saying that she was finished with the ball pit, but everytime I turned around, she had found another tube or tunnel or slide that took her right back there.
We were lucky that we went early as there weren't many people there when we arrived. We could go anywhere...

The kids didn't go trick or treating this year, but they certainly helped daddy pass out treats (and grab another one or two for themselves). They seemed to enjoy watching all the kids dressed in costumes come to the door. They were especially thrilled by the big basket of candy sitting by the door. It only happens once a year.

To celebrate Labor Day we visited the Niabi Zoo in Coal Valley, IL. The day was incredibly hot. We didn't stay as long or see as much as we would have liked. Allison's favorite spots were the bird building, the giraffes and the elephants. Matthew was a trooper. He viewed everything from the confines of the stroller.
After the zoo, we stopped by great-grandma's house with an ice cream treat for both her and us. It was a fun day!

Matthew has shown that he is capable of climbing both up and down the stairs, when he wants to. Today I wanted him up, he wanted to stay down. So, every time I put him on the stairs he would climb back down. I put him about three stairs from the top. He looked at me as if to say "you're kidding, mom", then climbed all the way down to the bottom.
